Our History

1944
Western Autobody Ltd is a 3rd generation family-owned collision business in Regina, SK.

The company was founded in June 1944 by Nickolas Hauck. Nickolas was the father of the present owner G.F. (Gerry) Hauck. Gerry began working at the company in July 1952 at the age of 15. Gerry was a journeyman autobody technician as well as running the company. He has extensive knowledge of collision repair.

Western Autobody had meager beginnings. A small 2500 sq foot shop with a rear alley entrance located on South Railway and Scarth streets. The Cornwall Center’s present location. At that time Nickolas had 1 employee.

1952
When Gerry joined the company in 1952, Western relocated to 1313 Albert St in a new 5000 sq foot building. Several years later, an addition increased the building’s size to 7500 sq feet. Western Autobody operated on that site for approximately 35 years.
1976
Gerry continued to work with his father until the time of Nickolas’s death in 1976.
1987
In 1987 Gerry built the present facility. A new 17,000 sq foot state-of-the-art collision repair facility at 1551 4th Ave in Regina, SK. This facility was designed by noted architect Clifford Weins. Specifically, for the purpose of collision repair. Upon completion, Western Autobody Ltd stood out from the crowd. It was the most modern, best-equipped collision repair facility in Saskatchewan. It was featured in many national magazines for years to come.
1990
In keeping with the family tradition. Gerry’s daughter Anne, and his son Gordon, both began working at Western in 1990. Anne currently runs the day-to-day business as General Manager. Her total dedication to Western’s client base is legendary. The Hauck family’s reputation for the highest quality repairs remains. Anne also has achieved I Car Platinum status as an estimator. She has extensive knowledge about today’s vehicles. Also, the processes required to repair them properly to OEM specifications.
